EMIL SCHMIDT DIES IN DENVER

Carl Schmidt returned last Saturday from Denver where he had been called by the death of his brother, Emil. Emil met with an automobile accident on March 1st and died Monday, March 8th.

Emil is the second son of the Schmidt family. Three brothers survive him. Otto, the eldest and Chris and Carl. All four were born in Blair, Emil being born December 7, 1875, was past sixty one years at his death.

Emil left Blair around forty years ago, and engaged in the contracting and building business which he followed until his death. His wife died about a year ago. One son, besides the three brothers, survives him.

He was a student at the Nebraska State University and had the honor of being a member of a mathematics class with General Pershing as instructor, and years after when the General visited Denver he remembered his old student and called him by name.

Emil was a man of ability and as a boy well liked by his associates, and he lost none of these attributes as he grew older.

Note: The Vig notes at the Danish American Archives has his parents names recorded as Christian and Wilhelmina “Mina” (Aufrecht). They are buried in the Blair Cemetery in Blair, Nebraska. Christians Find a Grave Memorial # is 110342816. No burial records were located for Emil.
