Mrs. H. E. Taylor received word recently of the death of her mother, Mrs. Gus Carlson, 68, who died at her home in Pasadena, California Saturday, January 9. Mrs. Carlson is well known in this vicinity, having been born on a farm west of Blair and lived here until five years ago when, together with Mr. Carlson, moved to California. Survivors are Mr. Carlson of Pasadena; six children, Mrs. H. E. (Adeline) Taylor of Blair; Mrs. Alfred (Esher) Menking, Omaha; Miss Edna Carlson, Omaha; Mrs. Darrel (Florence) Applegate; Mrs. Judy Mitzner (Mildred) of Los Angeles and George Carlson, of Pasadena; and two brothers, Ed Schaftersman of Telbasta and Will Schafersman of Lincoln. Also one sister Mrs. Peter Petersen, in Sweden; also ten grandchildren of whom two are in the service, Captain Robert C. Menking in Germany and William H. Taylor, Flc. at Treasure Island, California.

Note: The name is spelled Carlsen in the newspaper obituary. "Minnie" married August Carlson 2/22/1898 in Washington County Nebraska
