ALONZO M. FARLEY

Alonzo Marion Farley was born December 22, 1854 at Iowa City, Iowa, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. R. Appleby of Irvington, Nebraska December 31, 1936 being 82 years, 9 days of age.

When a small boy he came to Howard county, Nebraska, where he lived until seventeen years ago, and then he came to Washington county to make his home.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Catherine Gregory on September 10, 1885, and to this union three children were born. Ellis, who died at the age of 5 years; Albert S. of Denison, Iowa; and Mrs. E. R. Appleby. These two children and three grandchildren, also three nieces survive him. The nieces who live at Columbus, Nebraska, were unable to attend the last rites on account of the bad weather.

The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at the Campbell mortuary in Blair at 2 o’clock with Lucille LeCrone conducting the services, after which he was taken to the Kennard cemetery and laid beside his wife who preceded him in death six years ago, and for whom he continued to burn.

We often sit and think of him when we are all alone,
For memory is the only friend that grief can call its own;
Like ivy on the withered oak, when all other things decay,
Our love for him will still keep green and never fade away.
