MRS. CHRIS SCHUHMACHER DIES

Mrs. Chris Schumacher of south of Kennard passed away Monday morning. Mrs. Schumacher has for some time been a victim of heart trouble, and was taken seriously ill some time ago. She was taken to an Omaha hospital last Sunday, and died the following day.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church in Kennard on Wednesday, and interment was made in the German cemetery.

Mrs. Chris Schumacher, whom we mentioned last week as suffering from an attack of heart trouble, passed away at the Dr. Kani hospital in Omaha on Monday morning. Mrs. Schumacher was taken to the hospital on Sunday afternoon for treatment. Funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran church in Kennard on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.

MRS. C. SCHIMACHER DIES JANUARY 17

Mrs. Chris Schumacher, nee Louise Wilhelmina Dorothea Stender, passed away Sunday, January 17, after an illness of several months’ duration.

Deceased was born in Schleswig Holstein, Germany September 10, 1884, and came to America with her parents when she was six years of age. She was married to Chris Schumacher on September 14, 1904, and they immediately took up farming on the farm where they spent their entire married life, and where she died at the age of 52 years, 4 months and 7 days.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, one daughter and two sons, also her aged father, Chris Stender of Washington, Nebraska, and sisters Mrs. Henry Petersen of Gravity, Iowa; Mrs. Fred Wulf of Blair; Mrs. Gustav Auch of Bennington; and Mrs. Ben Bergman of Blair and five brothers, Ernest Stender of Germany; Julius and Chris of Washington, Nebraska; Emil of Blair and Otto of Winside, Nebraska.

Mrs. Schumacher was a member of the R.N.A. lodge of Bennington and of the Ladies Aid society of the St. John’s Lutheran church, in all of which she took an active part and will be greatly missed.

Interment was made in the German cemetery. Chris and Hans Wrich, Hans Wiese, Thomas Kniep, Claus Schneider and Buck Rosenbaum, all old neighbors acted as pallbearers.
