Ed Hovendick Burial to Be Saturday

Well Known Blacksmith. A Long Time Resident

Ed Hovendick, well known Blair man, passed away at his home on east Colfax street Wednesday afternoon April 20. He had been in failing health for the past two years.

Mr Hovendick had a wide acquaintance here, having operated a blacksmith and machine ship for many years where he made the acquaintance and friendship of hundreds who became his steady customers.

John Edward Hovendick was born on a farm south of Blair Feb 5, 1873 and was therefore 82 years of age at the time of his death

He was married to Miss Mabel Bouvier of DeSoto March 27,1900 and the young couple Blair their home, living here all except fourteen years when they moved to Atlantic,Iowa.

Mr. Hovendick had been a member of the Christian Church since 1913 and been an officer of that organization for thirty years. He was a staunch Christian, living a quiet and useful life. He filled a place in the community, carrying on his work and supporting his church in an unfailing and untiding manner.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Raymond E. Hovendick, of Omaha, a daughter (Mary) Mrs. Hugh Sutherland of Blair and by another daughter, Mrs. Mildred Thomson, of DIxon, California. Eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian church next Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Ralph Kersey delivering the funeral message. Burial, under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, will be in the Blair Cemetery
