L. E. WARD DIES AT KENNARD

Former Kennard Business Man And Prominent In Civic Affairs

Word reached The Enterprise office that L. E. Ward of Kennard died this Thursday morning at 6:25. His death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Glenn Rosenbaum, with whom he made his home.

Deceased was born in Michigan on May 29, 1860, where he grew to manhood and where he married Miss Emily Henshaw on August 21, 1880. He first came to Washington County in April of 1879, and later, after his marriage, he farmed here until 1896 when he moved to Kennard and entered business.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ward, five of whom are still living - Carl and Homer and Mrs. Glenn Rosenbaum of Kennard, Mrs. Mildred Timblin of Bennington and Leland of Omaha.

L. E. Ward was a successful businessman and established a reputation for honesty in his life that brought him many friends. His word was always good. He was also civic minded and took an interest in the affairs of his town and served for a number of years as president of the school board.

After the death of his wife, he retired from business. In his death Kennard loses a man who had lived above reproach and one whom any man could well be proud to have as a friend.

He leaves, besides the family already mentioned, thirteen grandchildren to mourn his death. As yet no arrangements have been made for the funeral.
