HENRY TOEBBEN BURIED TUESDAY

Funeral services for Henry Toebben, well known farmer of this vicinity, who passed away at his home early Saturday morning, were conducted by the Rev. Carl Hellmann on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock from St. Paul’s Lutheran church north of Arlington. A brief service preceded at the Toebben home.

Mr. Toebben had been in failing health for several months, and had returned from an Omaha hospital about ten days prior to his death.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich Toebben, he was born at the farm home where he lived on June 22, 1887; he attended the Christian Day School at St. Paul’s and was confirmed on March 3, 1901. He was united in marriage to Emma Giesselman on March 11, 1915.

The floral and mission offerings were profuse, showing the great esteem in which Mr. Toebben was held by all who knew him, and the services were largely attended.

The congregation sang two hymns and the choir, directed by George Bluma, sang “Just As I Am Without One Plea”. E. A. Luebke played the accompaniments.

Pallbearers were Hugo Habensack, George Schoettger, Lloyd Jacob, Clarence Scheer, Leonard Scheer and Obert Hartung. Burial was made in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Besides his wife, Mr. Toebben is survived by three sons, Perry of Arlington; Kenneth of the U.S. Marines, home on leave; and Delmar at home. One grandchild also survives. Mr. Toebben was the last surviving member of his parents’ family - one sister and two brothers having preceded him in death.
