Ronal M. Brooks, 80, of Fremont died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, in Blair, Nebraska. Ron was born Aug. 8, 1939, at Lake Andes, South Dakota, to Lloyd M. and Mary Zetta (Zachariasen) Brooks.

Survivors: wife, Linda Brooks; son, Shawn Brooks; daughter, Tara (Troy) Bullock; and brother, Lloyd (Betty) Brooks, all of Fremont; sisters, Lynda (Ron) Volman and Loren (Lyle) Sevenker; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The memorial service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service. Military Honors by the Fremont Honor Guard at Moser’s following the service.

Ronal M. Brooks age 80 of Fremont passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair, Nebraska. Ron was born August 8, 1939 at Lake Andes, South Dakota to Lloyd M. and Mary Zetta (Zachariasen) Brooks.

Ron grew up in South Dakota, Manitou, Colorado and O’Neill, Nebraska where he graduated from O’Neill High School. He then entered the US Air Force on August 7, 1958 and served until November 23, 1966 during Vietnam. Ronal married Linda Erickson on May 28, 1961 in McCune, Kansas. After the military, he came to Fremont and worked for his dad at the Chuckwagon Café for several years and then started with the City of Fremont. He worked at the Parks Department and later the Street Department as a mechanic. He retired in 2001.

Ronal was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont and was an avid gunsmith, woodcarver and was very artistic.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Brooks; son, Shawn Brooks; daughter, Tara (Troy) Bullock and brother, Lloyd (Betty) Brooks all of Fremont; sisters, Lynda (Ron) Volman of California and Loren (Lyle) Sevenker of Ord, Nebraska; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Karen Sanders and daughter-in-law, Judy Brooks.

Memorial Service will be 2 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM on Wednesday prior to the service. Military Honors will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post #854 and American Legion Post #20 at Moser’s following the service.

Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Anatomical Board in Omaha.
