It is with profound sadness we mourn the passing of Mary Cordle, our loving and devoted mother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. On February 6, 2020 she peacefully left us to enter into the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Mary was born in Omaha, NE, on October 16, 1924 to Louis and Mary Zysk. Her parents were Polish immigrants. They made their home in South Omaha. Mary was the second of four girls. Mary learned her baking skills from her father, who was a baker by trade. When her dad came to visit, baked delicacies would fill the kitchen as Mary and her dad spent time together. There was always a case of room temperature Fallstaff beer on the back porch which seemed to keep them refreshed in the small hot kitchen.

Mary met Carl during the war, and they were married November 28, 1942. They had four children, Dennis (Emile), Rick (Joyce), Jim (Kim) and Chris (Bruce) Stricklett. They were the proud grandparents of 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. The place her family called home was their beloved small farm near Blair. Everyone who met them seemed to become a friend. Never let it be said that anyone ever visited Mary's home and went away hungry.

Mary always loved flowers and plants. Many of the family still tend to plants given them by Mary. She loved her garden and we all reaped the benefits of her green thumb. Mary's flowers adorned the farm.

Mary had no fear of any project requiring needle and thread. She was a highly gifted seamstress. If it could be sewn, Mary had sewn it. Up to the point where her vision would no longer allow her, she always had a sewing machine close at hand. Beside her chair one would find scissors, needles and thread and her crossword puzzles.

Mary loved just about any game, and continued to play even after losing her vision. Those playing with her would have to tell her how her roll of the dice went or which cards she was holding, but until her end she loved to participate.

Without a doubt, Mary's greatest legacy was her love for her family. She invested in her family, and instilled in her sons and daughters and their children strong values which have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Mary is survived by one sister, Jeanie. She was preceded by her husband Carl and sisters Helen and Louise.
