August Japp, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Japp, pioneers of this county, died at the Dodge County Hospital on Wednesday, September 26th.

Deceased was born November 20th, 1870 on a farm near Kennard where he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Emma Schmuck on September 2nd, 1899, and to them fifteen children were born, all living but four.

Of the immediate family Mr. Japp is survived by his widow and eleven children: Anna Kronberg of Dennison, Iowa; Laura Groves of Omaha; Carrie Ensign of West McHenry, Illinois; Elsie Ensign, Lake Villa, Illinois; Ruby Wingate, Crystal Lake, Illinois; George and Wilmer of Kennard; Elmer of Norfolk; Henry of Beatrice; August in the army and Lester in the Navy; also four brothers: John of Sterling, Colorado; George and Ernest of Wyoming; and William and Edward of Kennard; and five sisters, Minnie Schneider of Irvington; Katherine Miller of Kennard; Emma Rosenbaum of Omaha; Lizzie White of Wyoming; and Laura Anderson of Kennard.

Funeral services were held last Sunday at the Kennard Methodist church at 2:30 p.m., and interment was made in the Kennard Cemetery.

Seventy five years a resident of this county is a long period of years. In that time the county has undergone many changes - from a land of virgin soil to a thickly populated farm community. What a wealth of valuable experiences are collected in that time. A descendant of pioneer stock, born and reared and lived his entire life in the county of his nativity. His is a record that rarely will be equalled.
