HENRY SCHMALE DIES SUDDENLY

Funeral services for Henry Schmale who died suddenly at his farm home near Arlington at about nine o’clock on Saturday evening, were conducted by Rev. Carl Hellmann at St. Paul’s Lutheran church on Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock, with a large attendance.

Born at Phillips in 1891, and where he lived until 1907, he moved with his parents to Lodgepole, and in 1917 the family moved to North Bend. He was married to Laura Dahlkoetter of Ogallala on October 20, 1926, and the couple lived at North Bend until a year and a half ago when they moved to a farm in this vicinity.

Besides his wife and daughter, Katherine, he is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Katherine Schmale of North Bend; two brothers, William and Carl and one sister, Mrs. Anna Strate, all of North Bend.

The congregation say “Who Knows When Death May Overtake Me” and “The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want”; and the choir, directed by George Bluma, sang “God Be With You Till We Meet Again”.

Pallbearers were Laurence Gnuse, Herbert Stork, Martin C. Stork, Henry Meier, Walter Meier and Fred Schmale.

Burial was made in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
