CHRIS H. RATHMANN DIED TUESDAY

Chris H. Rathmann, 73, life-long resident of Washington County, died on Tuesday, August 7th, 1945 at the Dick Stricklett home on West South Street. Since being struck by a car six years ago, he had been a partial invalid, and resided at the Stricklett home the last five years.

Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Rathmann, Chris Rathmann was born on a farm in southern Washington County. After conducting a business in Kennard for some time, he moved to Blair, and was in the livestock business here many years.

In 1899 Mr. Rathmann was married to Hester Frances Caldwell, also of Washington County, and six children were born to the union. Mrs. Rathmann died in 1912, and he was twice remarried in later years.

Survivors include the six children: Mrs. Floyd Tyler, Chapman, Nebraska; Mrs. Paul L. Aldrich, Hewitt, Minnesota; Mrs. Floyd Richardson, Fremont, Nebraska; George C. Rathmann of Kingman, Kansas; Glenn Cooksey, Junction City, Oregon; and Harold Hopper of Lincoln, Nebraska; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Peter Soll and Mrs. Mary Anderson and two brothers, G. A. of Blair and John of Oregon also survive.

Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon at two o’clock with the Campbell Mortuary in charge and the Rev. W. F. Lewis officiating, with burial in the Blair Cemetery.
