Word of the death of Sophus A. Pedersen, former resident of this place, was received by Mr. and Mrs. Jay Blackburn on Tuesday, Feb.13th. Mr. Pedersen passed away on Tuesday morning at the Swedish Memorial Hospital following an operation on Saturday. He had not been in good health since an accident more than a year ago. Mr. Pedersen operated a garage here from 1926 to 1936 when the family moved to Omaha.

Omahan, 54, Dies After Operation
FORMERLY OF ARLINGTON, SOPHUS PEDERSEN WAS BURIED FEB. 17
Sophus A. Pedersen, 54, owner of an Arlington garage for a decade, died at Omaha’s Swedish Immanuel Hospital on Feb. 13 following a major operation. A resident of Omaha for the past eight years, he had been in failing health since suffering serious injuries in the course of his work a year ago.
Funeral services were held in Omaha Saturday afternoon, with burial in the Hillcrest cemetery.
Survivors include the widow, a son Gerald Pedersen, WT 1/c of Long Beach, California, and a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy M. Soukup. He also leaves one grandchild, Lee Edward Soukup.
Note: The Vig Files at the Danish American Archives has it recorded that he was buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha.
