Marilyn Katherine Fitzgerald, 74, of Fremont, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and a vigil/rosary service at 7:30 p.m., at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.

A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.

Marilyn Katherine Landgraf was born April 27, 1937, at Odebolt, Iowa, to Albert and Pearl (Dinges) Landgraf. She graduated from Odebolt High School in 1955.

She attended Iowa State Teachers College for two years, (now known as the University of Northern Iowa.) She taught school for two years at East Waterloo, Iowa.

She married Bob Fitzgerald on June 16, 1959 at Odebolt.

The couple lived in Omaha for eight years and she taught school for three of those years at District 66 and for the Millard Public Schools. She also attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha at nights. In 1967, the family moved to an acreage near Nickerson. She taught school at St. Patrick's Catholic School in Fremont for two years.

She moved to Fremont in 1984. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont and taught CCD classes.

She had been a former 4-H Leader, member of a Bridge Club and the Friday Lunch Bunch.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cindy Fitzgerald of Cedar Bluffs; daughters and sons-in-law, Deb Kollars of Sacramento, Calif., Kathy and Ron Bauer of Fair Oaks, Calif., Jean and Nick Brown of Arlington, and Karen and Marc Hassman of Papillion; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, George and Margaret Landgraf of Odebolt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Mae Blass of Sac City, Iowa, Kay Determan of Wall Lake, Iowa, Bobbie Faber of Spencer, Iowa, and Helen and Paul Eckerman of Conrad, Iowa, Jean Jackson of Davenport, Iowa and Lois and Roger Kipf of Lady Lake, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob, in February of 1972; sister, Millie, and infant sister Maryanne; and a granddaughter, Inesa.

Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont.
