MRS. H. MATHIESEN RITES HELD SUNDAY

Mrs. Hans Mathiesen, nee Johanna Knag, was born in Denmark August 23, 1859, and at the age of 18 she came to America to the home of her brother, James Knag. Two years later she married Hans Mathiesen.

The couple settled in Florence for a short time, and then moved to Irvington. In 1891 they moved to the Glendale school district northwest of Blair, and remained in that vicinity until Mr. Mathiesen’s death in 1940. About two years ago Mrs. Mathiesen went to the Crowell Home where she spent some time. The last few months, however, were spent with her daughter, Mrs. Caesar Kegler, where she died on January 4th at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 12 days.

Seven children survive and mourn deeply their great loss. They are Thomas of Walthill; Mrs. Joe Fryman of Blair; Lewis of Herman; Mrs. Glen Wilson of Blair; Hans of Herman; Mrs. Caesar Kegler of Blair; and Mrs. Harry Nelson of Herman; besides seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon in the First Lutheran Church with H. C. Jorgensen officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
