Fuhlrodt Services Tuesday

Funeral services for Arnold Alvin Fuhlrodt of rural Blair are set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, at the Campbell Funeral Home. Rev. John Ewton will officiate with organ music and vocals by Clare Cowing.

Fuhlrodt, 86, died Saturday, August 4. He was born in Wisner Nov. 9, 1897, attended elementary school in rural Wisner, and joined the U.S. Navy in 1918.

He was a veteran of World War I, serving as a fireman in the Navy from 1918 to 1921. He was on three missions bringing troops back to the United States.

After the war, he married Georgia Ann McDonald Jan. 3, 1923, who preceded him in death. They farmed in the Fontanelle area 14 years, then moved to another farm nearer Blair in 1936. He was actively engaged in farming until his death, having fed cattle from 1923 to 1983.

Survivors include son Warren Fuhlrodt of Blair, daughters Myrna Fuhlrodt of Blair and Mrs. George (Luree) McDonald of Springfield, Illinois; sisters Esther Stork of Blair, Mae Michael of Missoula, Montana; brothers Verne Fuhlrodt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Norman Fuhlrodt of San Diego, California; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for Tuesday’s services are Ronald, Brian and Rodney Fuhlrodt, Gregg McDonald, Gary Wehrli and Gregory Nieto.
