FORMER SHERIFF, MAURICE MEHRENS DIED SEPT. 15

Well Known Here, Had Been Living In Omaha Several Years

Maurice Mehrens, ex sheriff of Washington County, passed away last Friday, September 15th at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha where he had been a patient for a week. The cause of his death was attributed to a heart attack.

Deceased was born in Harrison County, Iowa on November 29, 1875, and came with his parents to this county when a boy. He grew to manhood on a farm in the Pleasant View school district.

He was married March 30, 1898 to Miss Ella Reed and to them four children were born, two sons and two daughters. One son, Sterling, is at home; Mrs. Maude West is living in Texas; Milford is in Kansas City, Missouri; and Mrs. Sam Fraley resides in Blair. These, with the grieving widow, mourn their loss.

Funeral services were held on Monday at 2:30 from the Bendorf Funeral home with Rev. D. D. Kennedy officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Attending the funeral were the son, Milford of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Maude West of Texas; and a brother of the deceased, William Mehrens of Minneapolis.
