RICHARD L. NELSON RITES WEDNESDAY

Richard L. Nelson, retired farmer, died at the Blair Hospital Sunday evening, August 27, following an illness of over a month’s duration.

Deceased was born in Horsens, Denmark Aug. 22, 1876, and came to this country when sixteen years of age. He was married to Anna Jorgine Rasmussen on February 2, 1901, and to them five children were born: Mrs. Leona Jensen; Mrs. Myrthe Atkinson; Mrs. Evelyn Colter; and Mrs. Viola Hinz, all of Blair; and Leonard Nelson of Arlington.

The wife passed on five years ago, leaving the children who, with one brother, Harry Nelson of Blair, and eight grandchildren, grieve deeply their irreplaceable loss.

On July 24 Mr. Nelson underwent a major surgical operation in an Omaha hospital, and three weeks later he was brought to the Blair Hospital where he passed away last Sunday evening. All his children, with the exception of Mrs. Myrthe Atkinson, were at his bedside at the time of his death.

Deceased farmed in the Orum vicinity for over twenty years, and was successful in his chosen line. He was a good neighbor, highly respected for his integrity and right living, and he had many friends who have hoped that he might recover.

Funeral services, under the direction of Chris K. Bendorf, mortician, were held Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock from the First Lutheran Church with Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating, and interment was made in the Orum cemetery.
