Walter H. Fuhrer, 83

Walter H. Fuhrer, 83, of Fremont died on Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Services were Monday, Oct. 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont with the Rev. Brian Kottas officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Cemetery.

Walter H. Fuhrer was born Oct. 3, 1915, in Butte to William and Margaret (Zimmerle) Fuhrer.

He grew up at Butte and then farmed in Boyd County.

On Dec. 8, 1938, he married Laverne Fish in Neligh.

They moved to Fremont in 1956 where he worked for a sod and landscape business for a couple of years. He worked for Campbell Soup Co., was a mechanic for the Fremont Ford Farm Implement dealership and then worked for the Fremont Public Schools in the maintenance and custodial department.

He was a member of the first United Methodist Church in Fremont and the Fremont Eagles Aerie 200.

Mrs. Fuhrer died on Dec. 7, 1983.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ramona and David Norris of Idaho Falls, Idaho; one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Nancy Fuhrer of Fontanelle; eight grandchildren, Shawn Fuhrer and Katie of Bashor, Kan., Shannon Fuhrer of Miami, Fla., David and wife, Curie Micher, of Alda, Evie and husband, Jimmy Lukassen, of Dix, Julie and husband, Paul Hitz, of Las Vegas, Nev., David Benson of Pocatello, Idaho, Dave and wife, Debbie Norris, and Shane Norris, all of Idaho Falls; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel, and wife; Bobbie Fuhrer, of O’Neill and two sisters, Ella Rustemeyer of Peoria, Ill, and Linda Beam of Burk S.D.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne, and a sister.

Memorials are suggested to the American diabetes Association.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
