RITES FOR W. L. CALDWELL HELD WEDNESDAY

Chemist At Haller Company In Poor Health Many Months

William L. Caldwell, well known and very highly respected citizen of Blair, died suddenly last Saturday, June 17th, of a heart attack. He had been in poor health for years, and last fall, thinking to recuperate, he with his wife went south and spent the winter.

The change did not prove beneficial as was expected, and while in the south he had a slight stroke, and for a time it was feared he would not be able to return to Blair, but he improved and he and Mrs. Caldwell returned to their old home and their old friends in Blair.

Last Saturday he was taken very ill and was rushed to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Omaha where he died just as he entered. The body was brought to Blair where funeral rites were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from Campbell’s Mortuary with Rev. D. D. Kennedy of the Baptist Church officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

William Caldwell came to Blair in his early life, his father having erected the first privately owned electric light plant. He attended the Blair schools, and in 1899 was married to Miss Mary Young, and to them four children were born, one passing away in infancy. Those living, and who with their mother deeply mourn their loss, are Mrs. M. J. Reeh of Randolph Field, Texas; Jefferson Caldwell of Burley, Idaho; and Pvt. George D. in the armed forces stationed at Shepard Field, Texas.

Deceased was a man of convictions and sincerely honest. He was a chemist for the Haller Medicine Co. for forty three years, and made good at his profession. Always a high type citizen, he leaves many friends and admirers who knew him for his true worth.
