OBITUARY OF CHARLES KROHN

Charles Krohn, a son in a family of eight children, was born October 17, 1872 in Mecklenburg, Germany. He came with his parents to America at the age of one year, and with them settled at White Water, Wisconsin. About 1880 he came to Nebraska, and made his residence in various parts of this state.

He married Mary Meierhenry of Telbasta, Nebraska on February 26, 1895. They settled on a farm in the New England territory in Washington County. There the family was reared, and the Christian home was maintained through many years of wedded life.

The departed is survived by his companion and wife, Mary Krohn, two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Jordan and Miss Etta Krohn; two grandsons, Marvin and Dwain Jordan; one sister, Mrs. Amelia Clem of Minot, North Dakota; three brothers, Fred, Henry and Louis Krohn of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Other relatives and a large friendship circle testify to his Christian integrity, neighborly kindness and true Americanism.

After a span of life consisting of 71 years, 9 months and 14 days, the departed passed away on August 1, 1944 at 12:42 p.m. after a brief period of illness in the farm home.

The funeral services for Charles Krohn were held at the Telbasta Evangelical Church Friday at 2:00 p.m. August 4, 1944, with a special service at 1:15 at the home by the Rev. Harvey A. Schwab. Music was furnished by the Telbasta Male Quartet which consisted of Harold Meierhenry, Walter Meierhenry, Henry Niederdeppe and Dalton Strenger, with Mrs. Henry Niederdeppe as accompanist.

The pallbearers were Harold Smith, Paul Sprick, Wesley Meierhenry, Ervin Sprick, Lester Curley and William Sprick.
