FORMER ARLINGTON RESIDENT DIES IN CALIFORNIA

ARLINGTON - Relatives at Arlington have received word of the death of Charles F. A. Pfeiffer, a former resident of that place and also of Fremont.

Mr. Pfeiffer organized the Farmers Co-operative Farmers Union store in Fremont a number of years ago, and afterwards was employed by the Toledo Scale Co., and was plant manager at Houston, Texas. Later, he moved to California, living at San Diego. When his health failed, he retired and moved to Sacramento.

Born in Germany he was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Pfeiffer, and both he and his parents received special honors from King Charles Frederick Eighth of the province of Wurttemberg who was his godfather and who presented him with a gift because he was the seventh son.

In 1881 the family came to the United States, coming first to Arlington, then known as Bell Creek station, and later settling at Fontanelle.

Mr. Pfeiffer was a member of the Hiram Lodge A.F.& A.M. No. 52 of Arlington, and the Masonic Lodge of Sacramento had charge of the funeral services held there on Monday.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Pfeiffer is survived by five sons - Howard of Los Angeles, Rueben of San Gabriel, Eugene in the south, Carl of Los Angeles and Bruce of Tennessee; two daughters, Edna and Bessie; also one sister, Mrs. Martha Werner of Onawa, Iowa; and three brothers, Fred Pfeiffer of Nickerson, William G. and Henry Pfeiffer, both of Arlington.
