Abram C. Byers Rites Sunday

Abram C. Byers, was born near Springfield, Illinois, May 14, 1851, and died at his home in Blair on August 2, 1945.

He was married in February of 1887 to Miss Cora Lee Tobin, also of Springfield. In March of the same year, the young couple came to Nebraska and settled on a farm one and one-half miles south of Kennard. To them, four children were born, three daughters and one son, Mrs. L. O McHenry of Ten Miles, Oregon, Mrs. Carrie B. Smith, Los Angles, California, Mrs. Chelsea L. Whitford of Blair, and Frank E. Byers of Kennard.

Deceased is survived by, besides the above-named daughters and son, six grandchildren, Sgt. Oakley O. Smith, Philippine Islands, Mrs. Elaine M. Murdock, Marine of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Dwight L. Byers, Camp Robinson, Arkansas, Mrs. Willard Harris of Long Beach, California, and Billie and Allan Byers of Kennard. Two great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Byers proceeded him in death on September 19, 1938.

Funeral services were held last Sunday, August 5th, at the Bendorf Funeral Home with Rev. W. F. Lewis officiating. Tom Blanchard was soloist with Mrs. C. W. Grandy at the piano. Pallbearers were Will Grimm, Elmer Wright, Howard Jensen, Harold Madsen, Elmer Andreasen and Ansel Toft. Interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.
