Funeral Services Held For Roy Fuller

Funeral services for John Leroy Fuller were held at the Presbyterian Church, Lyons, Nebraska, Tuesday, March 18. Reverend Larry Woodcock officiated at the 10:30 a.m. rites.

Music was by Mrs. Russell Kempcke, soloist, and Mrs. Mildred Johnson, organist. Pallbearers were Ivan Lydick, Vern Anderson, Orrin Kohlmeier, Floyd Miller, Art Schlichting, and Donald Bonneau.

Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery with Hamel and Peck in charge.

John Leroy (Roy) Fuller, age 88 years, 5 months and 8 days, died Saturday, March 15, 1980, at the Blair Hospital. He was born October 7, 1891, to Daniel S. and Idella Hawkins Fuller.

He was united in marriage to Marguerite Baker March 22, 1917. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last Saturday. To this union was born two daughters, Doris Chandler of Lebo, Kansas, and Elaine Maxwell, of Blair.

Roy was baptized in the Christian Church at Tekamah when he was a small boy. He later transferred his membership to the Divide Center Church. In 1966 he, along with his wife, joined the First Presbyterian Church in Lyons where he was an active member until ill health kept him at home.

He was also a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge in Craig. He farmed in Burt County all his married life except for the three years he and his family resided on a farm near Waterloo. In 1965 he retired from farming and moved with his wife to a home in Lyons where he lived until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and a great-grandson.

Survivors are his wife, Marguerite; daughters Doris and Elaine; 4 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephew, and a host of friends and unadopted young folks who called him Pa.
