EARLY SETTLER DIED LAST THURS.

John Dornacker, a resident of Washington County for 67 years, died at his home in Bennington on December 16, 1943. Mr. Dornacker was born in Omaha on February 20, 1873, and was 70 years, 9 months and 26 days old at the time of his demise.

When four years of age, John Dornacker moved with his parents to a farm three miles north of Bennington where he resided until last May when he and his family moved to Bennington.

Mr. Dornacker was married to Dora S. Wendt at Blair, Nebraska on April 4, 1901. Besides his widow, Dora, his is survived by two sons, Henry of Irvington and Sgt. Arthur Dornacker of Nashville, Tennessee, and five daughters: Mrs. Nancy Ohrt and Mrs. Roberta Christensen of Elkhorn; Mrs. Josephine Gottsch, Greta and Bernice of Bennington; one brother Fred of Kennard and one sister, Mrs. Detlev Kruse of Fort Calhoun Nebraska.

Funeral services were in charge of Rev. Churchill and were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. Music was furnished by Mrs. P. J. Christensen, Mrs. Arthur Glandt, Mrs. George Andersen and Miss Roma Hickey. Interment was made at the German Cemetery and pallbearers were William Schuldt, Fred Ohrt, Otto Gottsch, C. W. Glandt, Peter Petersen and Thomas Kniep.

Mrs. Dornacker was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Verein and the Bennington Plattdeutscher Social Benefit Verein.
