GEORGE MENKING RITES SUNDAY

George Menking of Kennard died at his home on October 14, 1943 of a heart attack. At his death he was seventy two years, one month and thirteen days old. He was the third son of Fred and Lena Menking, and he came with his parents to Arlington when only a child.

In September of 1891 he was married to Miss Elizabeth French, and to them five children were born - Mrs. Bertha Edwards of Blair, Mrs. Ethel Andreasen of Lyons, Mrs. Lola Vybral of David City and Keith Menking of Fremont. One child died in infancy. Mrs. Menking passed away seventeen years ago in 1926. On May 11th, 1929 Mr. Menking married Mrs. Bertha Widener of Kennard.

For some years the deceased followed farming and for a time was engaged in the automobile business in Kennard. In all he resided in Kennard for thirty seven years, and during that period he gained the respect of all who knew him.

Besides the widow and his immediate family, he leaves numerous relatives and friends who will miss his kindly manner.

Funeral services were held last Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church in Kennard with Rev. A. W. Clarke officiating, and interment was made in the Kennard cemetery.
