FRANK SCHEER, COUNTY PIONEER, DIED TUESDAY

A Resident of County And Fontanelle Township 69 Years

Frank Scheer, early settler farmer of Arlington, died on Tuesday afternoon at his home following a lingering illness which had kept him bedfast for the past two weeks.

Born on July 4, 1856 at Quincy, Illinois, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Scheer, he graduated from the Gem City Business College, and 69 years ago he came with his parents to this county. He was a carpenter by trade, and followed this occupation with farming for many years.

He was married to Miss Augusta Giesselman, and last September the couple observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, Ed Scheer and Leonard Scheer, both of this county; also three brothers, Henry, William and Fred, all of this county; and one sister, Mrs. Amanda Goessling of Fremont.

Deceased was always active in civic affairs of his community, serving on the school board and on the church board. In his life he lived the part of a true Christian gentleman, fair minded, honest and scrupulously conscientious in all his dealing. He will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends and The Enterprise extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved family. To have lived as honorably as he has lived is a great satisfaction to the bereaved ones, and the memories of his deeds will be those of kindness and respect.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of Reckmeyer & Son, and the services will be held on Friday afternoon at one thirty o’clock at the home and two o’clock at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with burial in St. Paul’s cemetery.

Rev. Carl Hellman will conduct the funeral.
