Verne H. Petersen, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Petersen, who formerly lived near Bennington, died last Saturday morning following critical burns received in a gasoline transport fire the day before. The accident occurred in Illinois.

Petersen was born and raised in the Bennington vicinity, leaving this state with his parents to live at Gravity, Iowa, at the age of 14 years. He has been employed driving the oil transport for the past two years.

On September 14, 1942 Petersen was married to Ora Mae Symes of Wright City, Missouri where they resided, and at which place the burial was made. The young couple have no children. He is survived by his widow, his parents and a brother, aged 14.

Petersen is a nephew of Mrs. Fred Wulf, Mrs. Ben Bergman and Mrs. Gus Auch, all of Washington county.
