#1-27 Dec., 1922 - The Pilot - Christian C. Petersen

Christian C. Petersen died at the Wise Memorial hospital in Omaha last Friday night following an operation for ulcer of the stomach on Monday. The body was brought here Saturday, and the funeral held at the Danish church at 1 o’clock yesterday, Rev. H. Nelson speaking in English and Rev. I. N. Hansen in Danish. The service was largely attended, and the floral offerings were exceptionally large and beautiful. Mr. Petersen is survived by his wife and two daughters, Marla living in Denmark and Mary, wife of Rev. H. A. Swenson of Jacksonville, Ia. Mr. Petersen was born in Bond, Denmark December 30, 1861, so he was almost 61 years of age. He was orphaned at 7 and made his home with friends until his marriage to Anna Maria Krosgaar in 1882. After giving birth to the two daughters now living, she died in 1885. In 1887 Mr. Petersen married Dorothea Margaret Anderson, their only child dying in infancy. They came to this country in 1889, and settled on a farm near Minden where they lived for 17 years. They moved from there to Staplehurst, coming to Blair in 1917 where they have since resided.

#2-28 Dec., 1922 - The Enterprise

C. T. Petersen was born in Denmark in 1861. At the age of seven years his parents died and he was thus forced to a great extent on his own resources. In 1882 he was married, and to this union two children, both girls, were born one of whom still resides in the old country and the other in Jacksonville, Iowa, the wife of Rev. H. A. Swansen.

His first wife died in 1885, and in 1887 he was remarried and together they came to America in 1889 where they settled at Minden, Nebraska on a farm where he resided for seventeen years. He then moved to Seward county where he farmed for eleven years, moving to Blair about five years ago where he has since made his home.

About two months ago he began to fail in health and an X-ray examination disclosed ulcers of the stomach, and he was taken to the Wise Memorial hospital where he was operated on the 18th and died on the morning of the 23rd.

Funeral services were held at the Danish Lutheran church on Tuesday, Dec. 26, Rev. Nielsen of the Danish church officiating, assisted by Rev. J. M. Hansen, Mr. Petersen’s former pastor at Staplehurst, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery where a large number of friends gathered as a token of respect for the dead, among them being two automobile loads from his former home at Staplehurst, Neb.

He leaves to mourn him his wife and two daughters, one of whom resides in this country and the other still in Denmark.

C. P. PETERSEN PASSES AWAY IN AN OMAHA HOSPITAL

C. P. Petersen of Blair died in an Omaha hospital last Friday after undergoing an operation for ulcers of the stomach.

Mr. Petersen was born in Denmark in 1861 and was 62 years old at the time of his passing. He had been a resident of Blair for several years, having purchased the M. R. Lippincott home in the western part of the city. He was also engaged in building a new residence at the time he was taken ill and obliged to go to the hospital.

‘ The funeral was held at the Danish Lutheran church Tuesday at 1 p.m., conducted by Rev. Nielsen, pastor of the church.

He is survived by a widow and two daughters, one of whom lives at Harlan, Iowa and the other in Denmark.
