Mrs. Henry Niederhoefer, who died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lubker, about four miles south of Fontanelle on Friday, December 8th, had been in failing health about two weeks prior to her death, and was stricken with apoplexy on Monday morning which left her unconscious until the end. Her husband preceded her to the great beyond a number of years ago. The funeral services were held from the home and the Brown Creek Lutheran church on Monday afternoon, and her remains were laid to rest in the family lot near the church. Anna Gertrude Franke was born at Quincy, Ill,, on January 7, 1858. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church when 17 years of age, and has always been active in its affairs. On January 24, 1878 she was united in marriage to Henry Niederhoefer, and the same year the couple moved to Nebraska where they have made their home since. Four children were born, three of whom survive; Mrs. Anna Benzes of Craig, Mrs. Matilda Luebker of Fontanelle and Louis Niederhoefer of Scribner. Her husband departed this life eleven years ago.

Mrs. Anna Niederhoefer, one of the pioneer residents of Fontanelle, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mathilda Luebker last week following a stroke of paralysis with which she was seized on Monday. Anna Gertrude Franke was born at Quincy, Ill. on January 7, 1858. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church when 12 years of age and has always been active in its affairs.

She was united in marriage to Henry Niederhoefer, and the same year the couple moved to Nebraska where they have since made their home.

Four children were born, three of whom survive: Mrs. Anna Benjes of Craig, Mrs. Mathilda Luebker of Fontanelle and Louie Niederhoefer of Scribner. Her husband departed this life eleven years ago.

Funeral services were held at the home on Monday afternoon at 12:30. At one o’clock services were held at the Brown Creek Lutheran church, Rev. Wolters officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery near the church.
