#1-29 Nov., 1922 - The Pilot - Marie Anna Kundel

Mrs. Marie Anna Kundel died at her home in this city last Saturday following an illness for about two years with cancer. She suffered a broken leg from a fall some time ago which hastened the end it is believed. The funeral was held Monday, being conducted by Rev. G. W. Wolter of Arlington, pastor of Trinity church of which she was a member. Deceased was born in Holstein, Germany, February 29th, 1865, and was therefore past 58 years of age. She came to this country with her parents in 1887, and was united in marriage to G. Kundel in 1891. Seven children were born to them, three dying in infancy. The living are Mrs. Anna Rieck of Egerton, Minn.; Lillie, Gustave and Ellen of this city. The family moved here from Rock county, Minnesota eight years ago, and have since made their home on west Lincoln street in what was formerly the Carter residence. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Anna Sanders, aged 87, one brother, Henry Sanders who has made his home with them since coming to Blair; Mrs. Herman Detlev, Mrs. H. L. Helwinkle and Mrs. D. Henningson of this city; and Mr. Lena Wegst of Chicago.

Mrs. Anna Marie Kundel, a resident of this city, passed away last Saturday morning after a long and painful illness from cancer.

Mrs. Kundel was a native of Holstein, Germany, coming to America in 1891, and settling in Minnesota where she made her home until about eight years ago when she came to Blair where she has since resided. She was a woman of culture and refinement, and made many friends during her residence here.

At the time of her death she was past fifty eight years of age, and left four children, three daughters and one son, to mourn her. Those residing in Blair are Lillie and Ella and a son, Gus, who resides in Council Bluffs, also a married daughter who resides in Minnesota.

The funeral services were held in the German Lutheran church on last Monday, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
