#1-22 Nov., 1922 - The Pilot - Margaret Rahlfs

Mrs. Jacob Rahlfs died at the family residence on west Grant street at 1 o’clock last Thursday following an illness of several weeks’ duration. The funeral was held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. A. W. Lambrecht of Lyons officiating. Margaret Wrich was born in Ohrsee, Schenefeld, Germany September 10th, 1854, and was therefore just past 68 years of age. She came to this country in April, 1880, and was married to Jacob Rahlfs May 19th of that same years. They settled on a farm near Arlington, which was their home until they moved to this city in 1906. Five children were born to them, two dying in infancy. The living are Mrs. George Wulf, Herman Rahlfs and Mrs. Fred Stange. There are eight grandchildren living. Besides the husband she leaves two brothers and one sister to mourn her departure from this life. Mrs. Rahlfs was a home lover and didn’t get out much, but she was generally beloved by her neighbors and those who knew her best.

Miss Margaret Wrich was born in Ohrees, Schenefield, Germany Sept. 10, 1854. She came to America in the spring of 1880, and was married to Mr. Jacob Rahlfs, and immediately moved to a farm near Arlington where they resided until 1906 when they moved to Blair.

To this union five children were born, two dying in infancy. Those living are Mrs. George Wulff, Herman Rahlfs and Mrs. J. F. Stang.

Mrs. Rahlfs was ill but a short time, in all about six weeks, having leakage of the heart which developed into dropsy, and she died last Thursday, November 16 at 1 p.m.

Besides her three children she leaves her husband, two brothers and one sister to mourn her loss.

The funeral services were held last Sunday at 2 p.m. at the home. Rev Lambrecht, former pastor of the German Lutheran church officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Rahlfs, wife of Jacob Rahlfs, died at her home in this city Friday, Nov. 17, aged 68 years. Margaret Wrich was born in Obrsee, Schenefeld, Germany Sept. 10, 1854, and came to America in April, 1880. The following month she was married to Jacob Rahlfs in Blair and began housekeeping on a farm near Arlington where they resided until they removed to Blair in 1906. They were the parents of five children, three of whom with the husband survive: Lizzie, the wife of George Wulf; Herman Rahlfs and Bertha, wife of Fred Strange, all of whom reside in Washington county. Two brothers and one sister and eight grandchildren also survive. The funeral services were held at the family home Sunday afternoon and were largely attended. Rev. A. W. Lambrecht of Lyons, a former pastor of the deceased, preached the funeral discourse, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
