Mrs. Chris L. Bendorf passed away at about 3 o’clock last Thursday afternoon from liver trouble from which she had been a patient sufferer for the past two years. The funeral was held at the Danish Lutheran church at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. H. Nelson, assisted by Rev. N. P. Lang. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in the church and showed something of the high esteem in which Mrs. Bendorf was held in the community. The floral offerings were especially profuse and beautiful. Her six sons acted as pallbearers.

Andrea Sorensen was born in Denmark June 28th, 1859 and was therefore past 63 years of age. She was married to Andrew Larsen in Denmark in 1880, coming to this country that same year. Five children were born of this union, one dying at the age of three years. The surviving are Lars, James and Marinus Larsen and Mrs. N. C. Wulff of Fontanelle.

Mr. Larsen died at Ft. Calhoun in 1891, and the following year she was married to Chris L. Bendorf in this city by Judge Marshall at the courthouse. Five children resulted from this union also, Frank, Chris, Matthias and Anna Bendorf and Mrs. Ed Holstein of Powell, Wyo. They spent fifteen years on a farm in this county, removing to Blair five years ago. Mrs. Bendorf was a member of the Danish Lutheran church and Danish Sisterhood. She has one sister in this country but she could not be reached by telegrams. The following were present at the funeral from Omaha: C. R. Bendorf and son, Matt and daughter, Anna; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Zeeman, Sr. and Jr.; Mrs. A. A. Myers; Mr and Mrs. Fred Zotsman and sons, Karl and Whitt and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Beecher.

Miss Andrea Sorensen was born in Denmark in the year 1859 where she grew to womanhood and was married to Andrew Larsen in 1880, coming to America the same year.

To this union there are four living children: Lars, Jens and Marinus Larsen and Mrs. Mary Wulff, all born and reared to maturity, and still making their homes in this county.

In January of 1891 Mr. Larsen died while the family was living near Calhoun on the Paul Nelson farm.

On August 9, 1892 Mrs. Larsen was married to Mr. C. R. Bendorf, and for a number of years they made their home in Blair, and to them while residing here six children were born, five of whom are still living. Annie and three sons: Frank, Chris and Matthew are still at home while Mrs. Laura Holstein resides at Powell, Wyoming.

Mrs. Bendorf was a woman of high Christian character and a good wife and mother. It has been the pleasure of the writer to have known her for many years and to know her is to respect her many virtues.

About two years ago she contracted an illness from which she never fully recovered, and along with this she suffered from gallstones. The end came at 3 o’clock p.m. on Sept. 7 when her spirit wafted its way to its Maker.

The funeral services were held at the Danish Lutheran church of which she was a member on Saturday, September 9th, her six sons acting as pallbearers, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery where numerous friends followed her to her last resting place in deep sorrow for her whom they loved.

The out of town guests were C. R. Bendorf, son and daughter and granddaughter; Chas. Pieman and wife, Chas. Pieman, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Beecher and Mrs. A. A. Meyers, all of Omaha.

MRS. CHRIS BENDORF ANSWERS FINAL SUMMONS

After a prolonged illness Mrs. Andrea Bendorf, wife of Chris Bendorf of this city, passed away at her home in this city last Thursday afternoon, Sept. 7, leaving her husband and a family of adult children to mourn her demise.

Andrea Sorensen was a native of Denmark, having been born there June 28, 1859. She was twice married, her former marriage having taken place in Denmark to Andrew Larsen, and with him she came to America in 1880. Five children were born to them, one passing away in childhood. The sons are Lars, James and Martinus, and the daughter is Mrs. N. C. Wulff. Mr. Larsen died in 1891 and in 1892 she was married to Chris L. Bendorf and became the mother of five other children. They are Anna Bendorf, Mrs. Ed Holstein, Frank, Chris and Mattheas.

Deceased was confirmed in the Lutheran church in her childhood and ever lived a consistent member of that body.

The funeral was held from the Lutheran church on Saturday afternoon and was largely attended. Rev. H. Nielsen and Rev. N. P. Lang conducting the services. Her sons were the pallbearers.
