William S. Hart was born in Washington, Indiana September 1, 1832, and died March 18, 1922 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sarah Holland at Springfield, South Dakota, after an illness of several months. The funeral was held at the Herman M.E. church, Rev. A. W. Bowden officiating. Music was furnished by a quartette composed of Mrs. George Lowe, Ruth Roberts, C. H. Blanchard and R. H. Bovee with Mrs. E. P. Hansen at the piano. On April 9, 1854 he was united in marriage to Mary Kelly, and to this union eight children were born. He moved from Indiana to Monroe, Iowa and from there to Nebraska, settling near Herman where he has since resided. He leaves to mourn his loss four children: Mrs. Holland of Springfield, S.D.; George of Herman; Lee of Miltonvale, Kansas; and James of Pella, Iowa. He is survived by forty one grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren.
