#1-1 Mar., 1922 - The Pilot - Jennie Taylor

Mrs. W. E. Taylor passed away at her home near the North school house in this city at just noon last Saturday. On Tuesday previous she fell and was too old and feeble to withstand the shock. The funeral was held at the house at 1 o’clock Monday afternoon, Rev. C. M. Foreman officiating. Jennie Elizabeth Manning was born at Abbington, Ind. November 7th, 1843, and was therefore 78 years old last November. With her parents she moved to Muscatine county, Ia. in November, 1855 where her mother died and her father moved to Lynn county, Ia. in the spring of 1866. She was married there to Wm. E. Taylor, a veteran of the Civil War, in September of that year. They moved to Harrison county that fall and lived there until May, 1868 when they came to this county which has been their home ever since. Two children were born to them: Dan, whose death occurred May 25th, 1899 when he was 29 years of age; and Mrs. J. M. Dixon who was killed by a street car in Los Angeles, Calif. January 12th, 1920. Besides her aged husband she leaves one sister, Mrs. Kate M. Hastings of Joliet, Ill and two brothers, John Manning of LeMars, Ia. and Thomas Manning of Letts, Ia.; and following nieces and nephews: Katie, now Mrs. Montgomery of Lincoln; May, Mrs. Temple of Canada, whose husband died during the “flu” epidemic; and Wm. J. B. Dixon of Lincoln. Also four great grandchildren, two children of the late Mrs. Jessie Reeves and Mrs. Temple and Mrs. Montgomery each have one child. Her brother, John Manning of Letts, Ia. and following nieces and nephews were here for the funeral service: Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Taylor of Winnebago, John Taylor and Mrs. Andrew Caldwell of Walthill and Mrs. Frank Lillie of Fremont.

RESIDENT OF BLAIR SINCE 1868 PASSED AWAY SATURDAY

Mrs. Jennie E. Taylor, wife of Wm. E. Taylor, died at her home in this city Saturday, February 25, 1922, aged 78 years, 3 months and 18 days.

Jessie E. Manning was born in Abington, Ind. Nov. 7, 1843, and with her parents, Daniel and Anna Manning, moved to Muscatine, Iowa. Her mother died and she and her father lived in Lynn county, Iowa until 1868 when she came to Washington county, Nebraska and has lived here ever since. Previous to moving here, deceased was married to Wm. E. Taylor in September, 1866. She became a member of the United Brethren church in 1858 and lived a conscientious Christian life.

Two children were born to her, but both have passed to the life beyond, Dan, who died a good many years ago, and Mrs. J. M. Dixon, who was killed in an accident in California in 1920.

She is survived by her devoted husband, with whom she had lived for 56 years; one sister, Mrs. Kate M. Hastings of Jolliet, Ill. and two brothers, John M. Manning of Lemars, Mo., and Thomas Manning of Letts, Iowa, who was present at the funeral, and three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The funeral was held at her late home at 1 p.m. Monday, Rev. C. M. Foreman officiating, and burial was made in the Blair cemetery.
