MRS. JOHN COULTER PASSES AWAY WEDNESDAY

Mrs. John Coulter passed away at her home on east Washington street at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday after an illness of several months.

During the fall and early winter she suffered from jaundice; later hardening of the liver and heart trouble developed, and a few weeks ago she received a fall from which she never recovered, and for the past several weeks her family and friends knew she was nearing the close of life’s race. One daughter, Mrs. Nora Purchase, who lives at Richland, Neb., was with her a good part of the time, coming over from her home when needed and returning when her mother seemed better. For the past couple of weeks Mrs. S. J. Johns was been in constant attendance upon the patient.

Francelia Emma Cady was born at Chatham Center, N.Y. February 19, 1844, and would have been 76 years old had she lived until the 19th of the present month. Mrs. Coulter was twice married, and six children by her first marriage and one son by the last, survive her and were with her when the end came. They are Jay Jackson of Tabor, Iowa; Dean and George Jackson, Omaha; Mrs. Nora Purchase, Richland; Mrs. Lucy Steel, Ashland; Mrs. Nettie Gilliam and Jesse Coulter of Blair. One brother, Wm. Cody, who resides in Renselar, N.Y., and a sister, Mrs. S. J. Foster who lives a Winnebago, Minn., are also living.

The funeral will be held at the Christian church Friday morning at 11 o’clock, Rev. W. B. F. Robb officiating, and interment will be made at Kennard.

MRS. JOHN COULTER

Miss Emma Francelia Cady was born Feb. 19, 1847 at Chatham Center, New York, where she grew to young womanhood. Later the family moved to Illinois where she met and married Mr. Edward Jackson.

She, with her husband, came to this state about the year 1876, and since that time she has known this state as her home.

Mr. Jackson passed to the Great Beyond in Feb., 1888, and later she married Mr. John Coulter, also a resident of this county. Mr. Coulter died in November, 1909.

Mrs. Coulter is the mother of twelve children, seven of whom are living. They are: Mrs. Willis Purchase of Richland, Nebr.; Mrs. Jay Jackson of Tabor, Iowa; Mr. George Jackson of Omaha; Mr. Dean Jackson of Omaha; Mrs. Curtis Gilliam of Blair; Mrs. Fred Steele of Ashland, Nebr. and Mr. Jesse Coulter of Blair.

Mrs. Coulter was a woman of irreproachable Christian character and a person whose traits we would all do well to emulate. Always thoughtful of others, living the true life of a Christian and following in the steps of the Master, she goes to her reward.

She has been ailing since before Thanksgiving when she fell and sustained injuries which hastened her death which came yesterday morning, Wednesday, Feb. 8.
