MRS. PARKERSON IS BROUGHT FROM CALIFORNIA FOR BURIAL

The F. W. Arndt home was a double scene of sadness on Tuesday afternoon when the body of Mrs. Geo. W. Parkerson was brought from California to this home for the last sad rites.

Mrs. Parkerson, nee Mabel Josephine Cole, was born at Florence, Nebr. June 4, 1895, and was married to George W. Parkerson August 4, 1920 and went to San Francisco to live. She died on January 2, 1922, leaving a baby only a few hours old. Her mother, Mrs. J. J. Cole, left for San Francisco upon receipt of a telegram announcing her daughter’s illness, but received a telegram while enroute announcing her death.

When Mrs. Arndt learned of the death of this favorite niece, and that she would be brought here for burial, she asked that the funeral be held in her home. The evening that the body arrived in Omaha Mrs. Arndt too passed from this life, but the funeral was held in compliance with her wishes, Rev. Marsh conducting the obsequies.

Besides her husband and the tiny baby, Mrs. Parkerson leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Cole; one sister, Doris, now Mrs. Willard Clapp of Elwood, Nebr. and her Blair relatives.

As a proof that a parent’s love will make any sacrifice, Mr. and Mrs. Cole will give up their residence in Florence and go back to California to live with Mr. Parkerson where Mrs. Cole will care for the little one who will never know a mother’s love, but the grandmother will be the best possible substitute the baby could have.

The sympathy of a tenderhearted community goes out to these grief-stricken relatives who are surely “Passing Under the Rod” and facing a sorrow that only time will soften, but never heal.
