JOHN H. FURST

John H. Furst, a highly respected citizen of Washington county for many years, died June 14 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. C. Jensen of Omaha, past 64 years of age.

The deceased was born in Germany, but had made America, and particularly Washington county, his home since before the Civil war.

Mr. Furst was a man of sterling qualities, and held in the highest esteem by his friends and neighbors. His word was as good as his bond, and in all things he shaped his life by the principles of right and justice, living a life of industry and honesty that all might do well to emulate.

Funeral services were held Saturday at his home in the Wranch district, and burial was made in the German cemetery in the southern part of the county.

He leaves to mourn him, besides his good wife, his five children, Amanda, Regina and Arthur Furst, all of this county and Mrs. L. C. Jensen of Omaha and Mrs. Louis Pringle of Marcus, Iowa.

OLD RESIDENT OF IRVINGTON IS DEAD

John H. Furst of Irvington passed away on Wednesday, June 14, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. C. Jensen, 2403 Brown St., Omaha, aged 64 years, 9 months and 14 days.

Deceased was born in Germany Aug. 31, 1858, and came to America in 1862. He had resided in Washington county ever since, with the exception of eight years which he spent in Fillmore county. He was married in 1890 to Miss Mary Thole of Ohio, who with five children, Arthur, Amanda and Regina Furst, Mrs. L. C. Jensen of Omaha, and Mrs. Louis Pringel of Marcus, Iowa, and two brothers, Gus Timm of Bennington, and Frank Timm of Omaha survive. Mrs. Fred Woltje of Blair is a sister-in-law.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at his late home at Irvington, where he had lived for many years, enjoying the acquaintance and friendship of a large circle, and was largely attended. Rev. Dorn of Kountz Memorial church of Omaha officiating. Burial was made in the German cemetery north of Bennington.
