MRS. NEWTON BRACKEN

The death of Mrs. Newton Bracken, a former Blair resident, occurred at her home in Omaha, and the funeral cortege came to Blair on Saturday, April 1, where funeral services were held in the Free Methodist church Saturday afternoon at three o’clock, Rev. E. R. Ford of Lincoln having charge of the services.

There was a large attendance of friends and old neighbors of the Brackens present at the church testifying to the respect in which she was held in the community where she had lived for so many years, and where her large family of sons and daughters were reared to manhood and womanhood.

The floral tributes were beautiful and a large blanket of magnolia leaves was placed over the grave.

Besides the husband, she leaves ten children to mourn the loss of a good mother.

They are: Mrs. W. J. Clark, Angie, Orn, Ruth and Helen of Omaha; Clara of California; Mrs. Mabel Sylis of Blair; Stanley of Chicago; Thomas of Emerson; and Charles of Omaha. All were present at the funeral with the exception of Mabel, Mrs. Chas. Sylvis, who gave birth to a son the evening before and was unable to be present.

The pallbearers were the three sons, a grandson, Geo. Maynard and two sons-in-law Chas. Sylvis and W. J. Clark.

Interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
