WELL KNOWN HOOPER MAN CALLED BY DEATH

A second paralytic stroke suffered by Edward A. Ruwe on Monday night, supplemented with other physical ailments, caused his death at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the age of 49 years, 2 months and 7 days. Mr. Ruwe had been ailing since last February, and on October 28 suffered a stroke of paralysis that made him bedfast and which, with other complications, kept him so until the end.

Edward A. Ruwe, a native of this community all his life, was born in Washington county six miles east of Hooper on Nov. 10, 1872. In his youth he learned the trade of harness making, and came to Hooper in 1899 to engage in his vocation, and for a few years conducted a harness shop. He was a well known resident of this place and enjoyed a wide acquaintance in this community. He was married on Sept. 11, 1900 to Miss Adele Hahlbeck. To this union were born six children, all of whom survived him and who with their mother now have the sympathy of the community in the loss of a kind and devoted husband and father. The children are: Clarence E., Herbert H., Erma M., Sylvia T., Lois M. and Edwin H., all at home. He is also survived by four brothers and three sisters: Ferdinand and William of Telbasta; Otto of Blair; Lawrence of Wakefield; Mrs. Oberst of Herman; Mrs. Paul Kubie of Washington county and Miss Elsa Ruwe of Albion.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon, with services at 1:30 at the late home and at 2 o’clock at Zion Lutheran church. Interment will be made in the Hooper cemetery.
