Mrs. Pearl Schumate passed away at her home eight miles northwest of Tekamah Tuesday, July 24, following a short illness. The deceased was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al King of this place. Besides the husband she leaves to mourn her loss the parents, four small children, one sister, Mrs. Martha Maudlin and three brothers, Joseph, Elzy and Floyd, all residing near here. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Bowden, and burial was made in the Herman cemetery. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of all in their loss.

Note: The Vig Files at the Danish American Archives have her children's name recorded as Albert (7), Allen (5), Dorothy (3) and Beulah (1).
