FORMER WASHINGTON COUNTY MAN SUCCUMBS TO CANCER

Cornelius A. Jenkins, a resident of Blair and Washington county 16 years ago, passed away at his home west of Coleridge July 25, 1923 following an illness of several months’ duration with the dread disease cancer.

He was born in Shelby county, Ill. April 5, 1871, and was therefore 52 years, 3 months and 20 days of age at the time of his death.

He was married to Daisy Lyons Oct. 1, 1895 at Tecumseh, Neb. To this union four children were born, a daughter dying in infancy and a son, Donald, aged 13 years, who died 10 years ago. Those surviving him are his wife, two sons, Cecil and Verne, two grandchildren, four brothers: James of Milford, Neb.; Ralph of Tabor, Iowa; Fred of Ida Grove, Ia.; Frank of Blair; and one sister, Mrs. B. M. Utterback of Arlington, Neb.

Funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon, July 27, conducted by Rev. Christie, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the Coleridge cemetery.

At the time of Mr. Jenkin’s residence here he lived out on the Papio on the Bross farm, and afterwards moved on the Cruickshank hill south of town.

At the time of his death he was a stockholder and one of the Board of Directors of the Liberty Stock Remedy Company of this city.

During his residence in this county, he made many friends who respected him for his good sterling qualities, and who will regret to learn of his early death.

The Enterprise extends sympathy to the loved ones who remain and mourn his passing.
