MERLE GROVER, SR. GONE

Merle Grover, formerly of this vicinity, born and reared in Washington county, passed away in an Omaha hospital last Friday morning, January 26, his death resulting from an attack of appendicitis for which he underwent an operation on the Friday previous, January 19.

Mr. Grover was one of eight children, four boys and four girls, and the first to go, although the youngest of the four boys, being forty one years of age.

In early manhood Mr. Grover farmed just south of Blair in the immediate neighborhood where his brother, Morton Grover, now resides. He was a hard worker, honest and ambitious to get ahead and during the winter months when the farm labor was at a lull he taught school.

About ten or twelve years ago he went to Scottsbluff county where he homesteaded and later for a time was in the banking business.

At the time of his death he was residing on a farm at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. He had just had a farm sale and had made arrangements to rent his farm and retire when he was stricken.

He leaves a wife, four sisters and three brothers to mourn his death.

His sisters are Mrs. Alice Leach of Bennington, Nebr.; Mrs. Annie Kinney of Omaha; Mrs. Amy Jordan of Peru; and Mrs. Nellie Platz of La Moni, Iowa. The brothers are Merton Grover, Scotts Bluff, Nebr.; Morton Grover, Blair, Nebr.; and Mann M. Grover, Peru, Nebr.

The funeral services were held last Sunday, and interment made in the Elk City cemetery.
