MRS. MABEL HEBDON McCANDLISH GONE

Mrs. Mabel Hebdon McCandlish, known to Blair people and held in the highest esteem, died Saturday in Wayne, Neb. where for the past two years she has made her home. Her illness was but of a few days’ duration, and was the result of an attack of appendicitis.

Mrs. McCandlish spent a number of years in Blair as a student in our schools, and later entered the teaching profession. Her husband died about two years ago, and since that time she, in company with her two children, a daughter and a son, has resided in Wayne where she has been taking a course at the Wayne Normal, preparing herself to again enter the teaching profession.

The funeral services were held last Tuesday afternoon in Omaha at 2:30 from the McCabe M.E. church, and the interment will be made by the side of her husband in an Omaha cemetery.

FORMER BLAIR GIRL DIES AT WAYNE FOLLOWING OPERATION

Mrs. Mabel McCandlish, better know in Blair as Mabel Hebdon, died last Saturday night at Wayne after a brief illness. Mrs McCandlish was taken ill on Thursday, and the physician pronounced the ailment appendicitis and recommended an operation, which was performed, and Mrs. McCandlish passed away on Saturday.

The body was taken to Omaha to the home of her sister, Mrs. Ella Bennett, and the funeral was held at 2:30 on Tuesday, and burial was made in Omaha by the side of her husband, who died during the flu epidemic three years ago.

Mrs. McCandlish is the daughter of the late John Hebdon, and lived in Blair for a number of years. She was educated in the city schools here and was a young woman of remarkable force of character and greatly esteemed by a large circle of friends. Her mother died when she was very young and her father died several years ago. Her death is particularly sad as two small children are left orphans with but few living relatives.

Quite a number of Blair people drove down to attend the funeral, which was held at McCabe church.

Note: No burial records were located but her fathers FAG# is 115061467 and her mother's is115061436. She leaves her two small children and a sister, Mrs. Harry E. Bentley of Omaha and a brother, Clarence Hebdon of Niagara Falls.
