19 May, 1921 - The Enterprise - James Loren Grover

Funeral services for James Loren Grover marked the passing of another of eastern Nebraska’s pioneers.

At the age of 21 Mr. Grover came to Washington county, Neb. in 1866 from his birth place at Sandusky, Ohio, settling near the village of Bell Creek, now the town of Arlington, where he engaged in farming until the year 1882 when he emigrated to Boone county, Neb. In 1866 he was married to Miss Mary Leach and to them ten children were born - two of which died in infancy.

For several years prior to his death he owned and lived on a farm near Scottsbluff, Neb. Most of the last four years were spent at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alice Leach of Bennington, Neb., where his death occurred May 7 at the age of 75 years. The remains were interred at Elk City beside those of his wife whom death had claimed 23 years ago. Services were conducted by Rev. Elliot of Omaha.

His entire surviving family of four sons and four daughters were in attendance at the funeral. M. D. Grover of Scottsbluff, Neb.; M. G. Grover of Blair; M. M. Grover of Peru, Neb.; M. O. Grover of Cedar Rapids, Neb.; Mrs. Alice Leach of Bennington, Neb.; Mrs. T. F. Kinney of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. O. D. Jordon of Peru, Neb.; and Mrs. G. A. Platz of Lamoni, Iowa.
