#1-The Pilot, May 11, 1921

Mrs. Henry Sas passed peacefully away at 10:20 yesterday morning, having been sick for over two years with a cancer. She had been able to be up and about all but the last few days and met the end with great courage and fortitude. The funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal church at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, Rev. A.E. Marsh officiating.

Catherine Warren was born at Canesville, Mo., October 17th, 1860, and would have been 61 years of age, had she lived until next October. She was married to Henry Sas at Iowa City, Ia., about thirty years ago and came to this city five years later. This has since been their home all except seven years they lived at St. Paul, Neb.

Besides her husband she leaves one son, Fred Hulbert, who was last heard of in Canada, and one daughter, Maud, Mrs. Void Ireland, of this city. Also two sisters, Mrs. M.I. Ogden, of Ontario, Calif., and Mrs. W.D. Shank, of Marion, Ia., and three brothers, John S. Warren, of Schuyler, Neb., and T.A. Warren of Waverly, Ia. Albert and wife arrived yesterday, Mrs. Shank arrived here last Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Warren are expected tomorrow, also Mr. Shank, to attend the funeral services.

Mrs. Sas was a very capable and friendly woman and her death will be mourned by many friends. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.

Mrs. Henry Sas, well known in Blair and vicinity, and for years a patient sufferer, died at her home in this city at 10:20 Tuesday morning.

Miss Catherine Warren was born Oct. 17, 1860 at Gainesville, Missouri. In November, 1881 she was married to Leonard Hulbert at Atlantic, Iowa. To this union two children were born Mrs. Void Ireland of this city and Fred Hulbert, now residing in Canada.

On August 1st, 1896 she was married at Iowa City, Iowa to Henry T. Sas. They moved to this city immediately, and with the exception of seven years when they were in business in St. Paul, Minnesota, have resided here.

Mrs. Sas was a woman who had many friends who will miss her in the social circle in which she moved and in which she had many warm friends.

She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband, Mr. Henry Sas, a daughter, Mrs. Void Ireland; a son, Fred Hulbert; a sister Mrs. M. R. Ogden of Ontario; brothers, John Warren of Minneapolis, Minn.; Albert Warren of Schuyler, Neb.; and T. A. Warren of Waverly, Iowa.

MRS. HENRY SAS DIES AFTER PROTRACTED ILLNESS

Mrs. Henry Sas closed her eyes to all things earthly on Tuesday morning at 10:20, and her spirit took its flight to realms beyond.

Mrs. Sas had been a great sufferer for several years from cancer of the stomach and death came as a release.

Catherine Warren was born in Janesville, Mo. Oct. 17, 1860, and was past sixty years of age at the time of her demise. She was married to Henry Sas of Blair in 1896, and with the exception of seven years spent at St. Paul, Minn. had made Blair her home ever since. She had two children by a former marriage: Mrs. Void Ireland, living in Washington county, and a son, Frank Hulbert, who is somewhere in Canada. Besides the children, there also survives the husband, Henry Sas; two sisters, Mrs. W. D. Shank of Marion, Iowa and Mrs. M. R. Ogden of Ontario, California; two brothers, Albert Warren of Schuyler, Nebr. and Theodore Warren of Waverly, Iowa; and a niece, Mrs. Jewell of Omaha.

Short funeral services will be held at the home on west Lincoln street Friday afternoon, and the body will be taken to the Episcopal church for the regular obsequies at 2 o’clock, Rev. A. E. Marsh officiating, and interment will be made in the family lot in the Blair cemetery.
