MRS. A. L. COOK

The sad news was received on last Sunday morning by Washington county friends and relatives of the A. L. Cook family of Omaha of the sudden and tragic death of Mrs. Cook at her home at 6338 Spencer avenue in that city.

Mrs. Cook had been in poor health for some time being a victim of nervous prostration, and this brought on a melancholy which she could not throw off.

Early in the morning of that fatal day, before the family was awake, she took her life by hanging in the basement of her home where she was found by her husband soon after the sad affair. Mrs. Cook may be more easily remembered by Washington county people as Bessie Blaco, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. “Dick” Blaco, now deceased, but prominent Washington county farmers in an early day.

She was born Feb. 6, 1878 on her parent’s farm near Kennard where she grew to womanhood and was therefore past 48 years of age at the time of her death.

Her education was received in the schools of the county, and there are many schoolmates who recall her bright, cheerful face and quick intelligence.

On Feb. 22, 1905 she was married to Mr. A. L. Cook who had previously been county superintendent of the schools and had resigned to engage in farming, a business with which both were familiar, having been reared on neighboring farms.

Five children came to bless this union, their ages ranging from fifteen to four years. They are in order: Harry 15, Donald 13, Doris 11, Martha 9 and little Richard 4, who with the heart broken husband are bereft of the love and care of a good mother.

Mr. and Mrs. Cook, with their family, moved to Benson about three years ago, and placed the children in the public schools there where they have done exceptionally well.

The deceased leaves also one brother, Mr. H. C. Blaco of Kennard and three sisters: Mrs. Nellie Wardell of Creighton, Neb.; Mrs. Myrtle Wulff of Colorado Springs; and Mrs. Gertrude Neale of Kennard, besides a ______.
