MRS. H. MEIERHENRY PASSES AWAY

The death of Mrs. Henrietta Meierhenry occurred March 10, 1921 at her home near Telbasta after a siege of pneumonia, aged 74 years, 5 months, 29 days.

Mrs. Meierhenry was formerly Miss Henrietta Schonig, born Oct. 11, 1846 at Istrup, Lippe Detmold, Germany, and was married to Henry Meierhenry Feb. 16, 1870.

They came to America March 16, 1870, landing in Omaha and as there was no railroad out to Fontanelle, this plucky young couple walked all the way out there. After choosing a farm near Telbasta, they settled down to the task of making their fortune. By hard work, early and late, both of them working in the fields at times, they accumulated sufficient of this world’s goods to live comfortably and well in their old age.

Mr. Meierhenry died five years ago last February.

Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Meierhenry, five of whom have passed away, the seven remaining are as follows: Mrs. Paul Sprick, Mrs. Chas. Koran, Mrs. Herman Sprick of Herman; Mrs. Gustav Sprick of Julesburg, Colo.; Mrs. Will Rinderspacher, Fremont; and Carl and Paul Meierhenry of Arlington.

There are also seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The deceased was a member of the Evangelical church for 45 years, being one of the first to unite.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 13, Rev. Kerstan of Telbasta, Rev. Bachemeyer of Elmwood and H. Sohl, old friends of the Meierhenry's, officiated at the services. Burial was made in the Telbasta cemetery. The church was crowded and many stood outside despite the rain, having come to show respect for the departed. An abundance of flowers from old friends and neighbors showed the esteem in which she was held by the community where she had spent 51 years of her life.

TELBASTA LADY CALLED TO REALMS BEYOND

Mrs. Henry Meierhenry died at her home at Telbasta March 10, 1921 after an illness covering several years, aged 74 years, 5 months and 29 days.

Here twelve children were born to them, five of whom have passed away. The seven surviving children have grown to manhood and womanhood and are classed among the best citizens of Washington county, having profited by the instructions and example of a good mother and an upright father, the latter having gone to his reward five years ago.

The children now living are Mrs. Paul Sprick, Mrs. Herman Sprick and Mrs. Chas. Krohn of Herman; Gustave of Galesburg, Colo.; Mrs. Will Rinderspacher, Fremont; and Carl and Paul Meierhenry of Telbasta. There are nineteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
