WASHINGTON COUNTY PIONEER WOMAN DIES

On last Sunday evening, June 20, occurred the death of Mrs. Sarah Deaver at her home north of Blair in Cuming City township after a short illness.

Sarah Dickinson was born in the South at Louisville, Ky. on January 1, 1837, and was past 83 years of age at the time of her death.

She was married to Wm. Denver in Orange County, Indiana on Nov. 30, 1856. With her husband and children she came to Nebraska in 1873, and located on a farm in Cuming City township where she has since made her home.

Her husband departed this life a little over eight years ago, and since that time she has been living with her son, John, on the farm where she first made her home 47 years ago.

Mrs. Deaver is survived by six children, three daughters and three sons. They are Mrs. Chloe Davis of Kearney, Neb.; Mrs. Margaret Iverson of Cuming City township; Mrs. Martha Day, who has been staying with the mother during her declining years; Samuel and Nathan Deaver of Omaha; and John H. Deaver who farmed the home place. There are also sixteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.

The deceased was a quiet homemaker and a good mother. Her neighbors were always her friends, and she was highly respected in the community where she spent so many years. Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday afternoon, June 22, conducted by Rev. Foreman, and interment made in the Blair cemetery.
