PIONEER HERE 79 YEARS, IS STRICKEN

Mrs. Minnie Bugeon Became Suddenly Ill on Train Wednesday

PARENTS CAME FROM NORWAY

Mrs. Minnie Bugeon, well known in Blair and Washington County, died Christmas Day in a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She had gone to Kansas City to be present at a family reunion, and was taken ill en route. She was met at the train by her sons, Russell and Curtis whom she recognized, but was too ill to talk with them.

She was at once rushed to a hospital where she was given every attention known to medical skill, but with no avail. Her children were with her when the end came.

Minnie Sophia Johnson came of a pioneer family. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson, came from Norway in 1857, and settled on a farm in York Creek, this county, where she was born on July 21, 1862. thus she was reared in the old pioneer days, and was a real part of the early history of the county.

She was married to Fred Bugeon on October 25, 1885, and to this union five children were born, a daughter who died at birth and another daughter who died at the age of five years. Three sons are living, Curtis P. of Kansas City, Missouri; Harold B. of Warsaw, Missouri; and Russell E. of Chicago, Illinois. These were all at her bedside at the time of her death.

The husband passed away on November 7, 1924. Three sisters, Matilda Johnson of Fremont; Josephine Johnson of Blair and Letti Gustason of Omaha and two granddaughters, Mrs. Vern Milligan, Des Moines, Iowa and Ann Bugeon of Chicago also survive.

Mrs. Bugeon was a woman of high ideals and lived a life that was worthy of emulation. She was a member of the local Methodist church and was held in highest esteem by her wide circle of friends. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. John P. Brooks in the Methodist Church, the sanctuary so dear to her. Special music was furnished by Keith Vinton, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery under the auspices of J. E. Campbell, mortician.
